75 degrees on Christmas Eve Eve

Yesterday it was in the 70's. Maybe it's because we spent the last two winters in Ohio, but it seemed criminal not to get out and enjoy such a beautiful December day. It was a busy day, but we made a little trip to a playground near Grammy's house. David and Mary have been having so much fun with cousins that they both fell asleep in the car on the way to the playground. I sat in the parking lot listening to NPR while my kids snoozed away.

Mary woke up first and was anxious for some playground fun.

Is she a beautiful girl or what...
David had a harder time waking up...
But he finally perked up and joined Mary in the fun...
That boy is always on the run...

It was perfect, perfect weather. And my children are perfectly adorable. We were the only ones there, and I loved that solitude (if being with David and Mary can be described as "solitude").

You know how sometimes you have those totally unexpected, unplanned perfect moments as a mom? This was one of them for me.

I am around my kids constantly. Sometimes I feel like I am never away from them. But I often forget to BE WITH them. Yesterday I was WITH them. We laughed and played and hugged and cuddled, under a gentle, shining sun.

Merry Christmas.
