Cousins, cousins, cousins

This past weekend was filled with lots of cousins! Greg's parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, and a few family members flew into town to help them celebrate. We are conveniently already in the area and were excited to join in the festivities.
The weekend included a visit to the lovely grounds of the Dallas Temple, a trip to the Aquarium, great food, a birthday cake for one cousin, slide shows, a special family home evening, the playing of records on a record player (the kids were fascinated!), and lots and lots of fun with cousins.
The girls. (Minus Mary, who stubbornly refused to join the photo. That's okay because I love the picture as it is--look at all those blue eyes and blond heads!)

The boys. (You may recognize the one on the right from this past summer.)
What handsome young men!
We even got a chance to meet Evie, the daughter of Greg's cousin Scott and his wife Larissa. (And they happen to live in the local area!)
At Grammy's house there was plenty of music and dancing and happiness--thanks to her digital pianos.
There were also a lot of Legos, Little People, and--to David's delight--board games. (I have a strict no-board-games-with-my-son policy, as it brings out the absolute worst in me as a mother and a human being. But that's another story.) Notice Mary (and her backpack) in the gang. She clearly sees herself as "one of the boys."

Mary and cousin J like to hang out. Rather they like to torment each other. They have a special relationship (best illustrated by some forthcoming pictures.)
It rained all weekend, but when there was a break in the rain, the boys (and Mary, who is not pictured), headed outside for a game of tag.
And ultimately, there were plenty of big good-byes.
We had a great time celebrating with Grammy and Grampy! We're thankful they hosted us all and showed us a great time.
But mostly we're thankful for them, the Christ-centered life they have chosen to live, and the Christian values they passed on to their children...and are now passing on to their grandchildren.
