aunt K and cousin E

Yesterday we returned to Grammy's house so these two little girls could spend some time together...

As young as they are, they primarily operated in parallel universes. Except, of course, when David decided it was cool to include cousin E in hide-n-seek or smother cousin E with hugs--then Mary had to do it too.
But they did read a book together on Grammy's lap...
And watch this (a favorite of cousin E) together on aunt K's lap...
(Yes, my camera totally failed me in the above picture. Grrr.)
Fun in the backyard culminated in everyone jumping off the deck...
Well, not everyone. Cousin E wisely chose a safer manner...
The evening ended with David busting his head open. (Jumping on the couch. I think he finally "gets" why there is a no jumping on the couch rule.) Fortunately, Grampy was there to put him back together. Apparently, putting little boys back together is one of his great talents. He's been doing it his whole life. (Some men bond with their sons and grandsons with a fishing pole or golf club--others, with hydrogen peroxide.) It was a tiny cut, but it produced enough blood to cause David to remark on the way home, "Mom! The red traffic light is the same color as my blood!"
Between all the jumping, I did get to squeeze in some adult conversation with aunt K. Yay!
