My big Mother's Day celebration was last Thursday, when I had two Mother's Day Teas to attend simultaneously.
First, I joined Mary in her classroom. Isn't she cute?
I am in love with this little girl. She thrives in school, so I was happy to join her there in her element.
Here she is, showing off the pretty vase she made me.
Then I rushed to David's classroom, where he was anxiously waiting to show off everything he had made me. He was the most excited about the flower-pen.
He also made me an awesome bracelet out of buttons and the traditional coupon book. He was so excited and proud of himself.
I love that kid.
But the fun didn't end on Thursday. Yesterday Mary came home from her nursery class with this lovely project. She was thrilled to give it to me.
Look at that sweet face.
David, too, came home from his church class with a Mother's Day project. Very cute! The best part was where he wrote his whole name all by himself.
Here is a close-up of that picture.
I hate ink jet text. Bleck! I don't care how "crisp" and "professional" it's supposed to look, you can always tell. Looking at it makes me itch. I always made my students print their final drafts from a laser printer. Sure, show up to my class late every day, lose your vocab list seventeen times, but heaven help you if you dare turn in your "Why the BCS is Bad" research paper printed from an ink jet!! I told them it was because it needed to look professional (which is true), but mostly it was because of Diet Coke. Have you seen what happens when you spill Diet Coke on ink jet text? The 1850 census is more legible. But if you spill Diet Coke on laser printed text, the paper might end up a little brown and crinkly, but definitely legible enough to find all those comma splices. And now I will return to the topic at hand...
Mother's Day!
Many lovely people have filled this house with flowers and other thoughtful gifts and cards. But I have to share this particular dang cool Mother's Day gift my sister-in-law sent me.
A teensy-tiny card makes any gift cooler.
The best part of all is what the card said.
And, yes, this has been a VERY LONG YEAR of MOTHERHOOD. Thank goodness for all the love that is sent my way!
